According to a late night news broadcast last night, Malu Fernandez has apparently apologized and has resigned from her writing gigs at People Asia and Manila Standard. This news show used a Geocities webpage as a basis for this story. See it here and judge for yourself whether that news segment's host and producer did the right thing.

Of course, this is all contrary to what I dug up early yesterday afternoon from Malu's editor's assistant over at Manila Standard. She said Malu will answer all in her column this Monday.

The plot thickens.

Of course the great thing about all of this is everyone's learned to question everything, instead of just taking everything in. I'd like to believe a curious society is always a progressive society. So hopefully this can only be the shape of things to come.

Oh and btw. I think it's awesome what kind of creatures come out of the woodwork when there's any hint of sensation. A certain "Jay" called up at the station and heeded my open invitation to Malu. He left his number and asked me to text him. So I did. He answered my messages as if he was Malu. So I gamely pursued this lead and thought she would show up for an interview. I finally called the number and this "Jay" answered and introduced himself as Malu's cousin. It was then I started getting suspicious. I called the Standard and asked to speak to Malu via the Lifestyle Editor, as instructed by "Jay". The assistant who answered the phone was accommodating and very nice about the whole thing but said that her Editor wasn't going to be around til Friday. Then I brought up "Jay" and she said she didn't know of any "Jay". I called him up again several times after that. Twice he answered and twice he said he would try to get in touch with Malu, his cousin, again. I waited and waited until our show started. When Allan came in, he said he knew he smelled something fishy. Being ever hopeful, I said, you never know, she could just show up! But she never did. And "Jay" sent one last weird message before never being heard from again.

I feel like I've been duped. But as I've been assured time and time again, there are a lot of freaks out there. Maybe I'm even one of them. Harharhar.

I wonder how this will all end.
